Hi! My name is Danielle and I’m a homeschooling mom of two beautiful girls and married to the most amazing man God could bless me with.  When I’m not outside exploring with my girls, I like to read, cook, go to the gym and experiment in the garden.

Are you on the fence between classical education and unschooling?  Do you see the benefits of both methods but not sure how to balance them?

When my husband and I decided to homeschool, I began to research the best methods of home education and quickly became overwhelmed.  I was introduced to classical education and immediately fell in love with the concept and thought it was a wonderful way to approach education and to teach my girls. Beginning the learning process at ancient times and progressing to modern times while tying every subject into history chronologically just made sense to me.

Then I began reading about the unschooling approach to “school.”  Who wouldn’t want their child to pursue their interests, on their own time, when they were willing and able to absorb all of the information their little hearts could desire? Unschooling would mean my children get to learn from their everyday lives while exploring and experimenting with the world around them with some guidance and support from my husband and I.

I believe these methods, although quite opposite, have amazing advantages and some disadvantages. My goal at Classically Unschooling is to find a balance between these oxymoronic methods and share my experiences balancing motherhood and homeschooling. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a single mom, or a working mom wanting to supplement her child’s public education, I want you to know you are not alone and I want you to feel empowered and equipped to take charge of your child’s education.

I want to thank you for reading and following along while we embark on our homeschooling journey!
